Nope, the sink does not have a garbage disposer. This is by design. Food waste and grease can clog the drain pipe that serves the building and this can lead to water backing up into our sink since it is the low point in the drain system. To minimize the chance of backups we have a special one-way valve on the sink drain.
If you see water in the sink that will not drain that actually means the one-way valve is doing its job. In the very unlikely event that there is a kitchen sink backup please call us immediately. If we don’t answer call the management company (their contact info is in the HOA Rules that you received). DO NOT attempt to clear a blocked drain with a plunger or anything else or you might damage the valve in which case you will be flooded!
We have tried to equip the kitchen with what you would need to cook practically any meal. But we probably forgot something and things do go missing so please let us know us know if something you think should be there is not there. We will do what we can to make it appear!
If you use the crock pot please be careful with spills. Pro tip: put some aluminum foil between the pot and the heating element.
